The Light of Life is Peace within. Being in the word daily (that is the word of God) brings me such joy and reveals to me a love I crave to get to know more intimately. I am less selfishly absorbed in my own interest, but I desire to want others to share my blessings. I trust in God to guide my journey for "his word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Psalm 119:105
A terrific read!
The Help is set in Jackson Mississippi in the 60’s, about African-American maids working in white households.
The three main woman characters are Aibileen Clark, Minny Jackson, and Eugenia “Skeeter” Phelan.
Skeeter sets out to win Aibileens trust that developed when she helped write some household tips for her column in the local newspaper. Her dream is to become a writer so with the assistance of a publisher is told to write about something she’s passionate about.
Her passion turns out, is to write a book about African-Americans speaking out in the south.
Now the struggle becomes real. How does she get the colored maids of Mississippi to trust in her and what about the dangers involved in such undertaking. Yes not only a dangerous proposition for Skeeter, but also for any maids that come forth and agree to help her. Once again she turns to Aibileen and Aibileen agrees to work with Skeeter on the book about the lives of the maids of Jackson. They begin spending their evenings together and they set out to convince the other maids to tell their stories. Eventually, Minny also agrees to work with them.
This book is filled with such emotions, sad yet generous, loving and kind, even cruel and brutal, yet beautifully written. Hats off to Kathryn Stockett for such wonderful work!

For those of you who don't know, I have stage 3c Cancer. I had my 3rd chemo treatment today. I posted the picture below on my website, and after doing so I had a comment by a family member on Facebook that really got me thinking. She said "Says a lot in a very simple design..makes me wonder if that's how you are feeling right now". I replied "You know I thought of that after posting it, and perhaps subconsciously I was, but I know in my heart that not to be true."
Now the more I look at it, she may be right, at least in that moment. Or do I know in my heart that not to be true?"
Well, one day at a time. I am not going to let the big C take me down. Chemo can mess with you at times and I think today is one of those times.

Promotion is an ongoing and sometimes tedious task that many have little time for, yet it's necessary for success. Have you created a brand you can build upon and market on all the social media sites? Do you market yourself offline?
I've read a lot of material about ways to self-promotion till my head spins to find out in the end ones path isn't always the best fit for another. The no one-size-fits-all cliché between artist holds true and can be a pitfall if you rely on one source.
You will find artist promoting other artist on social media and those that stay away from promoting others because, well let's face it, they don't want to take the potential sell off of their work to another artist.
How much time is invested in your efforts to promote? I find with a full time job it becomes daunting after a hard day’s work to get the energy to push myself, yet I know the importance that every minute counts and I know how important it is to just stay focused even after no sells for a few months. I also am not blind to the fact that, just like a good book, one needs to have the perfect piece of art to make that sell.
I wonder if paying an outside source to promote your work is advantageous. If so is it successful? Is it costly? I would love to have someone be able to answer these questions who has in fact paid to get outside help and get their take on this.

Storytelling Through Imagery and Hard Work
I’m looking forward to seeing what artist do in the New Year. Will there be some sort of a trend set? As an artist myself I hope to find new ways to show my Art through the Art of Storytelling. I feel the inspiration coming on.
Perhaps setting some goals will be my first step. Yeah, I know this should have been done already. A lot of positive energy to stalemate the negative that few folks love to put out there. What’s with that shit anyway? Geez!
It’s going to take some work, and I mean A LOT of it. I don’t mind because my Art gives me the out that I need, it relaxes me and takes the stress off the 9-5 and all the other bullshit that goes along with it.
I want to blog more and be consistent in doing so. Hey, I have something to say as well as the next person.
Stay true to Social Media. Social Media is my friend, and so should be yours. Keep active on a daily bases. Facebook, twitter, Google, Stumble Upon, just to name a few. Work, Work, Work!!! Oh my, is this how Cinderella felt?
But in the end it’s all worth it. The outcome will just tickle you to death when you see the number in sales double last years, then you know it will have been well worth it.
So my friends, there’s no time to waste. Off to learn more about my SEO settings so that I’m sure to increase visibility. What a life!
A Happy New Year to ALL! Let’s all KICK ASS this year!
